Erling Haaland doesn't watch movies, doesn't reply to actors, and apparently has no idea who Spider-Man is. Tom Holland confirmed all of this on The Tonight Show this week, recounting how he slid into Haaland's DMs and received exactly nothing in return.

Holland spotted Haaland at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix in early June — across from him in a hospitality suite — and decided to shoot his shot. "I thought I'd send him a text," he told Jimmy Fallon. The response? "Not even an excuse, not 'I'm busy tonight, I'm playing football.' Nada."

Haaland doesn't care who you are

There's something almost refreshing about it. Haaland operates in a completely different universe — one where Premier League titles and Champions League knockout rounds matter, and Hollywood does not. According to the X post Fallon quoted on air, Haaland genuinely didn't know who Holland was and assumed the DM was from a random person.

Holland, to his credit, leaned into it. "That is exactly the type of humbling experience that is important for actors," he said. He even called Haaland "an absolute legend" despite the rejection — though given that England had just knocked Norway out of the World Cup 2-1 three days earlier, the timing of that compliment was doing a lot of work.

Holland referenced the England win himself when Fallon asked if he'd still take Haaland to dinner. "I don't think he would have dinner with me after the other day," he said. England progressed to the semifinals. Norway went home.

Haaland rooting for England anyway

For his part, Haaland was characteristically straightforward after the Norway defeat. "I've been supporting England... I got an England jersey before I got a Norway jersey when I was young, so of course I want England to do well," he said in a clip posted by ESPN UK.

Whether that goodwill extends to returning Tom Holland's messages is, as yet, unconfirmed.
