Circle October 25. That's when Barcelona host Real Madrid at Camp Nou in the first El Clásico of the 2026-27 LaLiga season. The return fixture at the Santiago Bernabéu follows on May 9 — potentially a title-deciding afternoon if last season's form from either side carries over.
The Spanish Football Federation released the full fixture list on Tuesday. All 380 matches are now scheduled, with the season opening August 14 and closing May 30.
A calendar built around the World Cup hangover
Not every club will start on August 14. Between four and six opening-round matches could be postponed, depending on how deep their players go in the World Cup knockout stages. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Athletic Club are the clubs most likely to be affected — which is exactly why the federation paired Barcelona against Athletic Club in Matchday 1. Both clubs face the same delay risk, so the fixture survives even if it shifts.
Hansi Flick's defending champions open against Athletic Club. José Mourinho's Real Madrid begins against Real Sociedad. Neither fixture is guaranteed to kick off on the 14th.
The first major matchup of the season arrives September 20, when Atlético host Real Madrid in the first Madrid derby. The return is April 4 — a month before the second Clásico closes out the campaign.

Three newly promoted clubs add some novelty to the opening weekend: Racing Santander face Villarreal, Deportivo La Coruña take on Elche, and Málaga open against Atlético Madrid. That last fixture is a brutal draw for a side returning to the top flight after years away.
The fixture list was built differently this season — not from a random draw, but from a coordinated process involving the federation, LaLiga and Liga F, working through more than 400 scheduling requests from clubs. The aim: keep the biggest games spread across the calendar and avoid marquee clashes stacking up on the same weekend. With Clásico odds likely to shift dramatically once squad depth and World Cup fatigue become clearer, the October 25 date gives the market roughly two months to settle before the first real reckoning.
The winter break runs December 22 through January 2. There are only two midweek rounds — Matchdays 6 and 33. The season ends May 30, with the Champions League final following on June 5.
