Vanja Dragojevic is flying to Glasgow on Friday to wrap up his Rangers move, with the Partizan captain set to cost somewhere between £4m and £4.7m depending on which source you trust. The spread between those figures is tight enough that the deal is clearly happening — it's just the paperwork that's left.
The 20-year-old midfielder has captained Partizan, which tells you plenty about how they rate him. Rangers are getting a player who has already carried responsibility at a major Serbian club before his career has really started. Whether that translates in the Scottish Premiership is the question, but at that fee there's genuine upside here.
The Hjerto-Dahl trail goes cold
While the Dragojevic deal moves forward, Rangers appear to be stepping back from the race for Tromso's Jens Hjerto-Dahl. Reports of Ibrox officials flying to Norway for talks were flatly denied by Rangers Review, who say the hierarchy is still at the club's pre-season base in Spain. Cardiff City, meanwhile, are pushing harder after their initial £5.5m offer was knocked back — and Tromso are holding firm at £8.5m. Rangers haven't tabled a fresh bid, and with Dragojevic incoming, it's hard to see them spending at that level on a second midfielder this window.
Sheffield United's Ryan One is also attracting Rangers interest alongside Leicester City, but the Blades aren't selling. File that one away for January.
Lawrence Shankland, at least, is already through the door. The Scotland striker revealed there was a specific contractual clause at Hearts that triggered if a qualifying offer arrived — and when Rangers came calling, he decided that was where he wanted to go. No drama, no drawn-out saga. He wanted it, the clause made it possible, done.
Celtic lose a centre-back, gain a question mark
On the other side of Glasgow, Maik Nawrocki is already in France for a medical with Lens. The 25-year-old centre-half leaving Celtic quietly tightens their defensive options heading into a title defence, and it nudges their clean sheet odds in a direction Brendan Rodgers won't love.
Separate speculation links Callum McGregor with a move to Al-Nassr after Ange Postecoglou reportedly struck a preliminary agreement to bring a foreign midfielder to the Saudi club. McGregor is 33. The timing of that leak is hard to ignore.
Elsewhere in the Scottish game: Motherwell have knocked back around £1m for Elliot Watt, but Samsunspor's technical director says personal terms are agreed and the remaining issues with the club are minor. And Robbie Ure, the former Rangers youth striker now at Sirius, has Nice circling with a £5.2m price tag attached to his exit.
Greg Taylor, a year into his PAOK move, has admitted he'd be open to returning to Celtic. Sometimes a quote like that is noise. Sometimes it's a player gently testing the water.
