Every Game That Could Decide the Premier League Title Between Arsenal and Man City

Arsenal dropped two points they can't afford to drop. A 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth hasn't ended their title bid, but it's handed Pep Guardiola exactly the opening he's been waiting for.

The gap is still 9 points. But Manchester City have two games in hand, and if they win both, this race is suddenly down to three points — with Arsenal still to visit the Etihad. That's not a comfortable position for anyone wearing red in north London.

The maths that should worry Arsenal fans

Win those games in hand, win the direct head-to-head on April 19, and City are level on points with Arsenal separated only by goal difference. It's a scenario that seemed far-fetched a month ago. It doesn't now.

One of those games in hand is against Chelsea on April 12. Another is Crystal Palace. These aren't guaranteed wins — Chelsea in particular have been unpredictable — but City's title odds just got considerably shorter off the back of Arsenal's slip.

Arsenal's remaining fixtures aren't a clear run either. Newcastle at home, West Ham away, and that trip to the Etihad on April 18 make the next three weeks the sharpest stretch of their season. After that, games against Fulham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace look more manageable — but only if Arsenal are still in control of their own destiny by then.

Arsenal's remaining Premier League fixtures

  • vs Bournemouth (home) — Apr 11
  • vs Manchester City (away) — Apr 18
  • vs Newcastle (home) — Apr 25
  • vs Fulham (home) — May 2
  • vs West Ham (away) — May 9
  • vs Burnley (home) — May 17
  • vs Crystal Palace (away) — May 24

Manchester City's remaining Premier League fixtures

  • vs Chelsea (away) — Apr 12
  • vs Arsenal (home) — Apr 19
  • vs Burnley (away) — Apr 22
  • vs Everton (away) — May 4
  • vs Brentford (home) — May 9
  • vs Bournemouth (away) — May 17
  • vs Aston Villa (home) — May 24

City's schedule is tight but workable. Burnley away on April 22 — three days after the Arsenal clash — is the kind of fixture that trips teams up mid-momentum. But Guardiola has rotated his way through congestion before.

Arsenal have been the better team for most of this season. That's still true. But a 9-point lead with games in hand for your closest rival is a different animal to a 9-point lead without them. The title race is alive, and the next two weekends will tell us everything.
