Messi and Ronaldo Share the Screen Again — This Time in LEGO Form.

The two greatest footballers of their generation are at it again. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have reunited for a new LEGO campaign built around the 2026 World Cup, joined by Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr in what might be the most star-studded brick advertisement ever made.

The four have been turned into official LEGO minifigures as part of the brand's new 'Editions' collection — a line designed to celebrate what LEGO calls "creative soccer culture." The sets pair technical builds with display-ready art, giving fans something to actually do with their idols beyond watching them on a screen.

What the ad actually looks like

The premise is simple and it works. All four compete to complete a LEGO World Cup trophy at a table — before a young boy steps in, finishes it himself, and crowns it with his own personalised figure. The message is obvious, but it lands cleanly.

This follows LEGO's earlier World Cup trophy release, which shifted attention from the silverware to the players who define the sport. Ronaldo and Messi are the obvious draws here — two men who've spent two decades splitting opinion on who's the better player, now sharing ad campaigns for the second time. The first was Louis Vuitton, playing chess on a checkerboard luggage case. Now it's plastic bricks. The iconography keeps stacking up.

Mbappe and Vini Jr provide the present-tense star power. Both are central to Real Madrid's domestic and European ambitions this season, and both carry serious World Cup weight for France and Brazil respectively — which makes them exactly the right faces for a campaign timed to build momentum toward 2026.

It's a smart partnership for LEGO. Football's commercial pull has never been bigger, and attaching four of the sport's most recognisable faces to a collectible product line ahead of a World Cup is about as safe a marketing bet as exists in sport right now.
