Mexico Throws Hat in Ring for 2029 Club World Cup Hosting Battle.

Brazil has always been the go-to country for hosting big football events. It's the home of beautiful football, a nation that lives and breathes the sport. But now they've got some serious competition for the 2029 Club World Cup – and it's coming from Mexico and Morocco.

The 2025 Club World Cup just wrapped up with massive success. The new 32-team format was a game-changer, making it feel more like the actual World Cup. Chelsea walked away as champions after beating PSG in the final at MetLife Stadium. Now FIFA, under Gianni Infantino, is already looking ahead to 2029.

The decision on who hosts the tournament will be made somewhere between December 2026 and March 2027. That gives these countries plenty of time to make their pitches. And each one brings something different to the table.

Brazil Banks on Experience and Infrastructure

Brazil was first out of the gate with their hosting bid. They've got the experience – remember the 2014 World Cup? All those modern stadiums are still there, spread across multiple cities. Plus, they've got the hotels, transport systems, and most importantly, a football culture that's second to none.

FIFA is even considering expanding the tournament to 48 teams in future editions. If that happens, Brazil's infrastructure would be perfect for handling those crowds. For betting markets, a Brazilian-hosted tournament could mean more South American clubs performing well on home soil, potentially shifting the odds.

Morocco and Mexico Join the Fight

Morocco isn't just showing up – they're coming in hot. Their national team's recent World Cup run and runner-up finish in the African Cup of Nations proves they're a serious football nation right now. They've invested heavily in sports infrastructure and they're already co-hosting the 2030 World Cup. The Club World Cup could be their perfect test run.

Then there's Mexico, the latest entry into this race. Mikel Arriola made their case pretty clear: Mexico is FIFA's seventh most valuable federation. That's not a small detail.

"Few countries have the capacity and connectivity infrastructure to guarantee all the other elements like Mexico," Arriola explained. He's got a point – Mexico regularly hosts international events and has world-class stadiums ready to go.

With the next Club World Cup scheduled for 2027, the 2029 edition is the next big prize. Mexico wants in, and they've got the credentials to make it happen. For football fans and bettors alike, where this tournament lands could influence everything from travel costs to which clubs get favorable conditions.

The hosting decision will likely impact odds for the tournament itself. Home continent advantage is real in football, and whichever region lands this event might see their clubs become betting favorites when 2029 rolls around.
