Shelbourne Pull Off Major Coup as Will Jarvis Returns to Tolka Park.

Shelbourne have just made one of the biggest moves of the transfer window. The Reds have brought Will Jarvis back to Tolka Park from Notts County, and this time it's permanent. The 23-year-old attacker has signed a long-term contract in what will be his third spell with the Dublin club.

For Shels fans, this is massive news. Jarvis isn't just any signing - he's a player who already has a proven track record at the club and knows exactly what it takes to succeed in the League of Ireland.

A Proven Track Record at Tolka

Let's look at the numbers. Jarvis first arrived at Shelbourne on loan in the summer of 2023. In just 12 league appearances, he bagged three goals and three assists as Damien Duff's side finished fourth in the table. Not bad for a half-season spell.

But it was his 2024 campaign that really turned heads. Jarvis hit nine goals before being recalled by his parent club Hull City. His performances were so good that he won two League of Ireland Player of the Month awards that season. And here's the kicker - Shels went on to lift the league crown after he left, showing just how strong the foundation was that he helped build.

After his recall, Jarvis made 11 senior appearances for Hull in the Championship before moving to Notts County a year ago. But now manager Joey O'Brien has moved quickly to bring him back to Dublin, and it's a statement of intent from the champions.

What This Means for Shelbourne

For punters looking at the League of Ireland this season, this signing shifts the dynamics. Shelbourne lost their top scorer from last season, so bringing in someone with Jarvis's proven goal-scoring record in this league makes them serious contenders to defend their title. His 12 goals across two partial seasons shows he knows how to find the net in Irish football.

Jarvis himself couldn't hide his excitement. "It all came about very quickly. Once I heard from Joey and Luke (Byrne), it was a no-brainer for me," he said. "The years here were the best I've had in football. There's something special about playing at Tolka and I want to help bring more success here."

O'Brien is equally buzzing about the deal. "Bringing Will back on a permanent deal is a huge boost for us," the Shels boss said. "His record here speaks for itself. He brings goals, creativity, and real attacking intent."

Jarvis could make his debut as early as Friday when Shelbourne kick off their season away to Waterford at the RSC. That's assuming his international clearance comes through in time. Either way, the returning hero is back where he feels at home, and Shelbourne fans have every reason to be excited about what's ahead.
