The Bundesliga has a new home in the United States — and it's free to watch. USA Sports has secured the exclusive English-language media rights to Germany's top division, starting this August and running through the 2030-31 season, with all matches available to American fans either on USA Network or streaming for free on Fandango.
That last part matters. Free streaming, no subscription wall. For a league that has spent years trying to crack the U.S. market, that's a real shift in accessibility.
What the deal actually looks like
USA Sports will broadcast 300-plus Bundesliga matches per season. At least 30 go on linear TV via USA Network, with the rest on Fandango. The opening fixture is a statement: Der Klassiker on August 22, with Harry Kane and defending champions Bayern Munich facing Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Schalke, and Hamburg are all listed among the clubs featured prominently on USA Network's schedule — so it's not just the top two getting the broadcast spotlight.
Combined with their existing Premier League rights, USA Sports will air over 1,000 hours of live soccer in the 2026-27 season alone. That's a serious football portfolio, and it puts genuine pressure on whatever Bundesliga odds U.S. books are pricing up — more eyeballs means more action.
Why the timing makes sense
The 2026 World Cup was played on American soil, and the Bundesliga has quietly been one of the league's biggest beneficiaries of growing U.S. interest. According to Bundesliga Americas EVP Robin Austermann, the number of U.S. fans following the league grew 43% over the past five years. That's not a rounding error — that's a fanbase being built in real time.
The Bundesliga has always had a strong argument on the pitch: highest-scoring league in Europe's top flights, the biggest average attendances in world football, and 81 American players have come through it — more than any other top European league. The problem was always distribution. A free-to-air streaming option changes that equation significantly.
