Troy and St. Joseph didn't wait for someone to hand them the throne — they took it. The latest Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association boys soccer rankings for Week 4 (Sept. 15) show two new leaders, and both arrived by pushing last week's No. 1 teams down a peg.
In Division 1, Troy moves up from second to claim the top spot, with Portage Central — who held No. 1 just seven days ago — sliding to second. That's a thin margin, and it won't take much to flip it again. Okemos, Ann Arbor Pioneer, and Ann Arbor Skyline round out the top five, making this one of the more competitive top ends in any division.
St. Joseph Makes Its Move in Division 2
The more decisive shake-up happened in Division 2. St. Joseph jumped two spots to No. 1, while Warren De La Salle — last week's leader — drops to second. Two places in one week suggests this isn't a small gap in form. Whether De La Salle has the depth to respond in the coming weeks will define the division's second half.
New Boston Huron, Edwardsburg, and U of D Jesuit follow at three, four, and five respectively — none of them pushovers if the top two stumble.
Divisions 3 and 4 stayed stable at the top. Flint Powers Catholic remains No. 1 in D3, with Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and Detroit Country Day keeping the pressure on. In D4, Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett holds firm, ahead of Muskegon Western Michigan Christian and Grandville Calvin Christian.
