Sutton's Premier League Predictions: Can Tottenham Survive Against Liverpool?

Things are getting desperate for Tottenham. They've lost their last five Premier League games, and now BBC Sport expert Chris Sutton reckons they're the favourites to go down. Yes, you read that right - Spurs could be playing Championship football next season.

"It is one from four teams to fill the final relegation slot and, at the moment, Spurs are my choice," Sutton explained. He's changed his mind from West Ham, who've shown some fight recently. The big problem? Manager Igor Tudor has apparently "obliterated everyone in his squad" since arriving.

This week, Sutton is joined by YouTuber Angry Ginge - real name Morgan Burtwistle - who's a massive Manchester United fan from Salford. The I'm a Celebrity winner didn't hold back when asked if he'd ever considered supporting City. "I'm actually quite offended you have asked me that!" he laughed.

Angry Ginge is buzzing about United's turnaround under Michael Carrick. He's particularly impressed with Benjamin Sesko, who's scored four in his last six games. "The change of system and the change in morale is the biggest difference under Carrick," he said.

The Weekend's Big Predictions

For the Tottenham versus Liverpool clash on Sunday, both predictors are backing the Reds. Sutton goes for a 2-0 Liverpool win, while Angry Ginge predicts 3-1. It's hard to argue given Spurs' current form - they look absolutely shattered.

The Manchester United versus Aston Villa match is huge for the top-four race. It's third against fourth, and both need the points. Angry Ginge is confident his team will win 2-0 at Old Trafford, with Senne Lammens and Bruno Fernandes making the difference. Villa have been terrible lately, so United should fancy their chances.

For anyone betting on these games, Spurs to get anything looks incredibly risky right now. Tudor's public criticism of his players has backfired spectacularly. Liverpool might not be convincing either, but they surely can't lose to a team in freefall.

The Manchester City versus West Ham game is interesting too. City melted in Madrid midweek, going 3-0 down to Real. But they haven't lost to West Ham in the league since 2015. Both predictors back City to win, though it might be trickier than expected given the Hammers' desperation for points.

How's Everyone Doing?

Sutton's prediction record this season has been rough. He's currently bottom of the table, behind his guests, AI predictions, and BBC readers. "I've turned into Tottenham," he joked. "Although another way of looking at it is that I am only one win away from being top of the league."

Last time out, singer Noah Kahan beat everyone with 70 points. The AI and BBC readers both scored 60 points, while Sutton managed just 50. With nine rounds left, the prediction title race is incredibly tight - everyone's got six wins each.

For Nottingham Forest fans, there's frustration too. Boss Vitor Pereira still hasn't won a Premier League game after 11 attempts with them and Wolves. That's got to change soon, surely? Their match against Fulham could be the perfect opportunity.
